More about Floatation Therapy

What is floatation?

Floatation is the most effective method for STRESS RELIEF & RELAXATION. The flotation tank has 10″ - 11" of water saturated with 1000 pounds of Epsom salt, creating incredibly buoyant water for you to float on. The water is heated to skin temperature (93.5 F). Once you’re settled, it is virtually impossible to distinguish what parts of your body are in contact with the water and which aren’t, tricking your brain into a “floating” sensation.

Perhaps the most unique benefit is the fact that floating quickly CHANGES the BRAINWAVES from beta to theta, which is where accelerated healing occurs. If someone suffers chronic pain, hypertension or insomnia, they're probably not getting the benefits of theta when they're sleeping. This is the reason why many people claim that 1 hou,r (or 1.5h is even better), in the float tank feels like 4-8 hours of quality sleep-they're enjoying the beneficial theta state in a fraction of the normal time needed, contributing to an overall increased sense of well being.

Floatation therapy employs similar principles to the relaxing and healing properties of the Dead Sea in the Middle East. The floatation pool contains a shallow amount of skin-temperature water filled with a thousand pounds of Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) to aid in reducing gravity.

By using the floatation pool, you can experience several therapeutic benefits. The first is the natural release of gravitational pressure that usually affects our bodies. This can greatly help those who suffer from pain or restrained movement.

Magnesium sulfate is also a mild muscle relaxant, which contributes to the deep relaxation experienced while floating. When you float, your brain responds to this deep relaxation by releasing endorphins, which help to relieve pain, improve mood and boost T-cell count (to improve functioning of the immune system).

Sat Nam Center at Mother Divine Foundation is now offering Floatation Therapy Sessions, also known as Sense Deprivation to visiting guests and to people in the community. OUR FLOATATION SPA IS NOT A TANK OR A POD and therefore it is not as claustrophobic.
 1h session - $80 1.5h session - $108 for individula session.
